Sustainable Products
& Packaging
At my studio in Southampton, I do my best to create beautiful products using eco-friendly, sustainable materials.
Ceramics
Ceramics last a lifetime, and if they do end up in landfill they do not release harmful toxins as plastic does. I use an electric kiln rather than a gas kiln, and am conscious about the waste I produce from my studio. Excess glaze and unfired clay is reused, and waste water goes into a water butt in my garden. Once the sediment settles I reclaim the clay to make more pottery and use the remaining water on the vegetable patch.
Linocut Prints
I generally use battleship grey lino - the only fully biodegradable type of relief print blocks, which don't release any harmful gases or toxins as it breaks down. I also use water based PVC free inks, meaning no solvents are required or emissions. Water based inks also mean I can wash my tools in water, so I don't require any chemicals for cleaning.

All linocut designs are printed on 100% recycled card, made from 100% 'low grade' (the greenest) post consumer waste. They aren't dyed or bleached using chlorine. The colour is achieved by matching raw waste materials so they can slightly vary in shade.
